Jugendstil-Praag

Aan het Centraal station van Praag werd gedurende 1901 tot 1905 gebouwd naar het ontwerp van de beroemde architect Joseph Fanta.Tegeltableaus in het voormalige restaurantzijn vervaardigd door de firma RAKO. De beelden door Cenek Vosmik. De indeling van het station was geïnspireerd door het Gare d' Ouest in Parijs.
De oorspronkelijke naam was het Franz Josef station maar na de verklaring van de Tsjecho Slowaakse republiek werd het gewoon Centraal Station.
Gedurende de Sovjet periode zijn er bijzonder lelijke uitbreidingen aan de voorzijde aangebracht. O.a een lager gelegen ingangspartij.
Dat maakt een aanzichts foto moeilijk omdat er nu een zeer drukke weg vlak voor het station langs loopt. De rust op de foto is dus ogenschijnlijk.

The division of the station was inspired by the Gare d' Ouest of Paris.
Original name was Franz Josef Station but after the declaration of the Tsjecho-Slowakian Republic it was renamed; Central Station.
In the Soviet period, very ugly enlargements were build in front of the station. This makes a front view picture very difficult. Besides that there is a busy street in front of the station.
Making photographs at that place
is a job for suïcidals.

Het gemeenschapshuis in Praag op de Námesty Republiky.
Naar ontwerp van Antonin Balisanek gebouwd van 1905 tot 1911. Het is het mooiste gebouw van Praag met een schitterend interieur dat onder andere schilderijen van Alphons Mucha bevat.

It is the most beautiful Art nouveau building of Prague, its interior is famous too and contains paintings of artists like Alphons Mucha.

Masary kade

Deels langs de oever van de Vlatava (durf het hier nooit Moldau te noemen) loopt de Masary kade waar aan indrukwekkende hoge huizen, waarvan veel in de jugendstil stijl, zijn gelegen. Er is tevens het karakteristieke sierpleisterwerk met plantaardige elementen, maskers en vrouwenfiguren.
En dan is er nog het "Huis van het patriottisch koor - Hlalol"
dat geluid betekent. Het heeft een prachtige bewerkte houten deur als ingang met een mooi mozaïek er boven.

Partly along the border of the Vltava, (never say Moldau here!!!), stretches the Kaai Massary.
Impressive tall houses, and many of them in Art Nouveau style.
Characteristic plaster facades with vegetable ornaments, masks en female figures.
And what to think about the “House of the patriotic Choir Hlahol ”-which means; Sound.
It has a beautiful entrance with a hand carved wooden door and a nice mosaic on top.

In deze straat zijn twee geweldige gebouwen te vinden. Het gebouw van de Praha verzekeringsmaatschappij en dat van de vroegere uitgever Topic.
Het Praha gebouw beschrijft de activiteiten van destijds in AN letters.(Zie hier onder bij de Engelse vertaling).
De facade heeft prachtige geglazuurde reliëfs en standbeelden op de daklijst.

In this street you can find two gorgeous buildings. The building of the Praha assurance
company and the building of the publishing firm Topic.
Both of them are extraordinary.

The façade has beautiful ceramic glazed relief's and statues on top.

Het vroegere kantoor van uitgeverij Topic heeft een eigen bijzondere schoonheid.
The former office of the publisher Topic has its own specific beauty.

Visehrad is een stadje dat bij stadsuibreidingen van Praag daar in opgenomen werd. Het is bekend om z'n Petrus en Paulus kerk waarvan enkele pilaren Art Nouveau decoraties hebben. Op het kerkhof zijn de graven te vinden van beroemde componisten als Dvorak en Smetana. Een deel van de tombes hier is in Art Nouveau stijl.

Visehrad is a village that is enclosed by enlargements of Prague city. It is well known by its Peter and Paul church which has some Art Nouveau decorations on the pillars. In the graveyard you can find the tombs of famous music composers like Dvorak and Smetana. Part of the tombs here, is in Art Nouveau style.

Volgens mij zijn er niet zo heel veel bruggen in Art Nouveau stijl in de wereld. Praag heeft er een, én een mooie.
Vanaf deze brug kijken naar de zwanen in de Vltava en de silhouetten van het oude Praag is een bijzondere ervaring.

I think there aren't so many bridges in Art Nouveau style in the world. Prague has one, and a beauty. Standing on this bridge, looking at the swans in the Vltava and the silhouettes of older Prague is an extraordinary experience.
